Our ever popular Dan Stover Music contest finally returns bring a friend to hear these outstanding young musicians give it their all.

Musically talented high school students each year participate in a Rotary District 5300 program entitled the Dan Stover Memorial Music Scholarship, and winners qualify for educational awards that enable them to further their studies at an accredited college, university, or music conservatory upon high school graduation

Dan Stover was an educator who always placed the student first, and his obvious respect for his students transformed the lives of countless young people.  He shared his love of learning with the young, providing them with a positive role model for structuring their studies and their lives.

CHP Public Affairs Officer Edmund Zorrilla

Despite the smallest geographical area of the CHP's eight Divisions, Southern has the largest number of uniformed and non-uniformed employees. Los Angeles is the real-world training ground for many new officers

The Division is a partner with Caltrans in the Los Angeles Regional Transportation Management Center. With a staff of CHP and Caltrans employees, the center uses advanced transportation management technology, including computer-aided dispatch, adjustable ramp meter intervals, changeable warning message signs and live TV updates

Los Angeles County also has the largest Asian and Latino populations in the country, with over 1.4 million and 4.3 million respectively. To provide safety classes and to educate about traffic safety laws, Southern Division has Asian and Latino community liaisons

Lou Farrar, Head Coach Charter Oak High School

Coach Farrar will be starting his 43nd year in football and 42st season of coaching. Coach Farrar is looking forward to the start of next season in particular because now he can focus all of his time on his family and football.  In June 2007 Coach Farrar retired from teaching after 37 years as an AP Psychology teacher.  He attended Charter Oak High School in the early 60’s where he played football, basketball, golf, and track.  He went on to play at the University of California at Berkeley. His high school coach was the NFL’s Jim Hanifan, an NFL head coach and one of the league's most honored Offensive line coaches.  Both Lou and Jim are now retired and look forward to many continued years of friendship.  Coach Farrar has coached a variety of sports on multiple levels.  His successful career began as a scout for Charter Oak in 1967 and then as a freshman football coach at Damien in 1968.  Throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s Coach Farrar taught Family Living and Psychology at Royal Oak High School and was at one time or another the Head Football Coach, Head Wrestling Coach, Head Varsity Baseball, and Head Girl’s Varsity Basketball Coach. He also coached at Chaffey College in the mid 1970’s as a Defensive Coordinator.

Daniel C. Palm, Ph. D, is chair and professor of the Department of History and Political Science at Azusa Pacific University where he teaches courses in International Relations, Comparative Politics, and Foreign Policy. His areas of research and writing include politics in China and Taiwan, political problems in developing nations, terrorism, American political thought, and civil and religious liberties. He is contributing editor of On Faith and Free Government and co-author of A Nation Under God? The ACLU and Religion in American Politics.
